Kenya Trip A Roaring Success
YET Launches Personal Development Survey!
The value of expeditions in the personal development of their young members is a firm belief of expedition leaders and organisers. The survey will list the characteristics of the personal development process as identified by a working party of the Young Explorers’ Trust. It also indicates how each of these may be achieved on the expedition. The Good Practice Guide on Personal development on which the survey is based can be seen on the YET website. However this has been compiled by adult expeditioners and YET seeks the views of young members about how they rate their expedition experience looking back on it from some years after. If an expedition is to have a lasting benefit then the skills and experiences then achieved should be transferable to later life in study and in the work place and in subsequent life skills.
The success of this project depends on how many responses are received from past members of youth expeditions so as much publicity from leaders and members would be vey helpful.
The survey can be found on Survey Monkey and through using the following link:

The results will be analyzed and published in the Autumn YETNEWS and on the YET website.
China 88 Reunion
In 1988 Don Robinson wrote that China ’88 was the Society’s “… most ambitious [expedition] … ever undertaken and probably been one of the most successful”. China ’88 took 62 people to the high Tibetan Plateau to climb, bike, kayak, trek and explore the region. Now 21 years on, we’d like to bring as many people who went on the expedition together for a full on reunion, probably at Selside, later in the year. If you went on the expedition or know someone who did, we’d like to hear from you.
Andy has set up a Facebook group for members to get in touch with each other, so sign up or spread the word on Facebook:
